Bisbee

Spirit photography workshop

July 31, 2004

We booked the entire Bisbee Grand Hotel for this workshop.   The Bisbee Grand was built in 1906 to provide lodging for traveling mining executives who came to Bisbee on business with the Phelps Dodge Copper Queen Mine.  Our goal was to capture the “Lady Ghost” of the hotel on film.  She always appears to be the same age, wearing the same color dress, and her hair is always the same color and style.  The staff will not divulge and details of the Lady Ghost’s appearance so that all reports are credible and unbiased.

After check in at 2PM, many of us wandered through the streets of this old mining town shops and museums.  But we all met promptly at 4:15 on the Bisbee Grand staircase for our agendas and our plan of action for the evening.

Our first order of business was dinner.  We headed down to the Brewery Steak House that was once part of the Stock Exchange Building in Bisbee.  Staff told us tales of ghostly happenings in the dining room.   Before we sat down to eat, the owner escorted us upstairs to the unfinished portion of this large building.  He took us up to where the stock exchange offices once were.  He was interested to see if there was any ghostly activity in the upper rooms.

After dinner we divided up into two groups and met Michael London –a historian at the Copper Queen Hotel.  Michael gave us a historical—ghostly—bizarre tour of some of Bisbee’s most unusual and haunted places!  We enjoyed his tales of old Bisbee and some of his recent encounters too!

After the tours we broke out into several groups walking the streets and alleys of Bisbee searching for spirits.   Many of us sat up at the City Park—which once was the City Cemetery.  Debe encountered at strange energy that swooped through her entire body when standing at the west end of the park.  Some ventured over to the current cemetery south of town—and were able to take some great photos.

Back at the hotel we had our own little Phantom Photo Contest. The workshop guests were asked to bring their favorite ghost picture to put on display. We all voted on the best paranormal picture.

We sat up cameras in the hallways and two or three of the known haunted bedrooms.  Many of us sat out on the balcony enjoying the cooler temperatures in Bisbee.  At 3am a few of us were still in the halls taking photos and recording EVP.

Next morning after the complementary breakfast, we posed for the traditional workshop photo and bid our farewells.  Debe gave us all a ghost charm to remember the weekend.
